The BMW S65B40 engine is a V8 naturally aspirated engine with two overhead camshafts (DOHC), and 32 valves, which replaced the S54 six-cylinder engine and has been in production since 2007. The BMW S65 is only available on the BMW M3 and has the same bore/stroke as the 10-cylinder S85, but unlike the S85, the VANOS system is driven by oil pressure. The replacement for this power unit was the 6-cylinder – S55.
